Recently she learned about Ancestral Quest, which we now both use.

She has done serious research for over 25 years and for the past several years has used Reunion. There is a support forum at and some videos are available here:

It would be worth experimenting with a trial copy to see if the level of detail is sufficient for your own requirements. I've just tried again, putting some sources in the appropriate field and they do appear in a report in.

pdf I got a blank page when I did this, but since I'm fairly new to Reunion I suspect it's because I've put my sources in the notes field and it's not picking them up. You can either print a paper copy or save as. You can create a report which optionally includes source citations. However you do have the option of GEDCOM export which I assume does include source lists, although it might be worth checking with the developers It appears you're correct that source lists do not export within a text file, although it's not something I've ever used. Reunion is not the easiest program to get the hang of but it would be worth your while to download a trial copy.

I'm not sure it would be worth it unless you have a lot of memory and a reasonably fast processor and are prepared to pay for a full priced copy of Windows, together with Parallels and Legacy itself which adds up. Using Parallels on the Mac would allow you to use Legacy alongside your Mac apps without booting into Windows, but there are costs. I looked at RootsMagic but having seen so much vapourware over the years, "we're working on it" doesn't do it for me.

I went through much the same process as you and concluded that Reunion was the best bet, so purchased Reunion11. View Member Profile Find Member's Topics Find Member's Posts ChrisW99

So basically wondering what software other mac owners use & any help/guidance they can offer. Developers do say they are working on a mac version of the software but no idea of timescale. speed, memory.ģ)Roots Magic - again seems highly rated, but need to purchase a MacBridge to be able to try it out. Not only cost implication but worried that may cause other issues if have 2 operating systems - e.g. If so this seems a serious flaw.Ģ)Legacy - heard a lot of people here use this and sounds very good, but can't try free trial or use it without purchasing Windows. Am I right in thinking that means if I send a report to any friends/family none of the sources will be shown. Seems to have lots of glowing reviews but does say that source citations don't export with text data. I've read loads of reviews and have narrowed it down to three but looking for advice from any other mac users.ġ) Reunion - designed for mac.
